A dowry of blood dark retellings

The nameless sire and his brides.

A Dowry of Blood by S.T. Gibson is a poetic reimagining of Dracula’s brides.

Gothic atmosphere ,mostly focused on its queer representation especially on bisexuality and polyamory.

Lets start🖤

A Dowry of Blood is  a book  written in letters by a Romanian vampire by the name of Constanta, the first of a nameless vampire lord’s brides. Her story begins with her on the verge of death, after an attack. The vampire with no name finds her a turn hers.

“I cannot make you,” you huffed, halfway between a plea and irritation. “The choice is yours.”

Constanta  tells the story rhrough out the letters that describe decades and ultimately centuries, her life with him. Later the addition of two new brides: Magdalena, a Spanish woman, and Alexi, a handsome Russian man.
changes her life with her sire.

A dowry of blood dives in to the human psyche.

Not only is this a tragic lovestory but also a reminder how destructive domestic abuse can be.

The immortal man has an even darker side and as the time  passes he becomes more possesive and obsessive

“But then, I was still optimistic. I still wanted to believe I was living in a fairy tale, that I laid down every night with a prince instead of a wolf.I wanted to believe you.”

Therein lies the beauty of this book.
Through the poetic vibe the abuse and pain can unfolds and sticks in to your mind.

A short but mesmerising book.
If you love dark retellings this is for you.
